Get the Glow on the Go

When life is at its busiest, you need every bit of energy available, but often it’s exactly the moment you start skipping meals or making bad food choices which results in the opposite of what you need, energy spikes and slumps along with sluggish metabolism and brain fade. I’ve totally been guilty of this, but I’ve recently found a few key moments in my day that when stuck to, keeps me cranking along with high energy, a clear mind, and a healthy glow.

Smooth Start

For me, this is the ultimate engine starter; a goodness packed breakfast smoothie. I often have slight variances, but mainly it always consists of

Frozen Blueberries: Known to have the highest antioxidant capacity, this tiny fruit packs a powerful punch in the fight against aging, amongst other things. #superfood

A Scoop of Ora Pure: This is the real kicker. Ora Pure Renew+ is a premium blend of marine collagen with 1000mg of Vitamin C! I’ve been using this for a few months now and noticed the shine and bounce in my hair improve noticeably, my gut is a lot happier and my skin has a glow (which is probably a result of a happy gut).

Coconut Yogurt: This is my dairy free healthy alternative to milk, I use the Raglan Coconut Yogurt because its coconuts are organic, it’s full of gut loving Probiotics, and it’s delish.
Baby Beetroot: This purple powerhouse has a long list of pros, with a great source of iron, folate, magnesium and has claims to help reduce blood pressure, prevent dementia and boost exercise performance. Cons? It makes one hell of a stain if you miss your mouth.
Half a Carrot: This orange magic stick has Vitamin A, C, K, B8, Folate, Potassium, Iron, Copper and Manganese.. admittedly I don’t know what Vitamin B8 or Manganese does but it sounds good.
Chia Seeds: These super-duper seeds are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. It’s a tiny treasure truck of protein, fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids and google tells me ‘other various micronutrients’ which is good enough for me.

With all of the fantastic benefits from the vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants, I know that, for me, this is the perfect foundation to build my day on.

Middle Management

This part can get tricky for me, every day is different, so I need to have a plan in place for lunch or at least some healthy options to bridge the gap because once I’m starving all of my best intentions go out the door. I will often have a few handfuls of the Clean Paleo Manuka Crunch Cereal to stop me from doing something I’ll regret haha.. It’s an assortment of yummy nuts & seeds in a ziplock bag, making it ideal for the car when the hunger flag goes up.
A great lunch for me has a balance of protein and carbs. It’s often a mix of last nights leftovers placed in a spinach wrap or with rice. Getting in a well-rounded meal makes such a big difference with afternoon energy levels.

End on a High

Once the dinner dishes are done and hubby and I are snuggled into our latest series, (Narcos Season 3, sooo darn good!).
